Representation helped, but it did not automatically create friendship. We still had to show up repeatedly and build community. The city is safe and convenient, but convenience does not erase language barriers, fine dust days, or the emotional weight of starting over. The move became better when we stopped comparing the new place to the old one and started building repeatable routines.
