I was the spouse without the built-in job structure, and that made the move harder than people expected. The city rewards people who build a smaller map instead of trying to live across the entire metro. My advice is to rent or stay flexible at first if you do not fully understand the area yet. The first few months were not a fair test. They were setup, loneliness, paperwork, and too many small decisions.
