On paper it makes sense, but I don’t want to make a clean spreadsheet decision and then create a messy family life. Specific question: What do former Californians miss after moving to Dallas?. Budget matters, but I do not want to choose the cheapest option and make our routine miserable. The boring details are the ones that decide whether the move works. the move can be right and still feel hard. People miss grandparents, old friends, familiar food, walkability, routines, and the feeling of knowing how everything works. The practical complaints may be two-car routines and summer heat, but loneliness is often the quieter problem. Most families felt better after routines formed. The first year is information, not always the final verdict.
