Has anyone moved from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Mission Viejo, California and felt surprised by the day-to-day reality? Healthcare setup is our main reason, but I’m trying to separate the nice relocation idea from the actual weekday routine. I’m especially trying to understand this: Visiting grandparents: where feels comfortable and convenient?. This move is exciting on paper, but I can already tell the first few months may be messy. People keep mentioning childcare costs, HOA rules, and high housing cost. Which of those actually mattered most?

The first month is mostly cardboard boxes and bad sleep. Coming from Arlington, Virginia, the comparison was never one clean upgrade or downgrade. Some things improved, some got harder, and different family members adjusted at different speeds. That mixed feeling is normal.
