Has anyone moved from Boston, Massachusetts to Costa Mesa, California and felt surprised by the day-to-day reality? Remote work lifestyle change is our main reason, but I’m trying to separate the nice relocation idea from the actual weekday routine. I’m especially trying to understand this: Mission Viejo vs Irvine for more space?. Budget matters, but I do not want to choose the cheapest option and make our routine miserable. People keep mentioning village differences, school pressure, and Asian grocery access. Which of those actually mattered most?

Honestly, I would slow down and test the weekday version first. choose the area that fits your ordinary week, not the one that sounds best in a relocation group. Around Costa Mesa, California, school pressure and Mello-Roos can matter more than people expect. Drive the route at the real commute time, then visit the grocery store, park, school area, and coffee shop you think you will actually use. The best neighborhood is usually the one that makes Tuesday easier, not Saturday prettier.
