Has anyone moved from Las Vegas, Nevada to Peachtree Corners, Georgia and felt surprised by the day-to-day reality? Salary negotiation is our main reason, but I’m trying to separate the nice relocation idea from the actual weekday routine. I’m especially trying to understand this: Is Atlanta still affordable for families?. We have two kids and one dog, so the decision feels bigger than just picking a nice neighborhood. People keep mentioning pollen, commute direction, and tree maintenance. Which of those actually mattered most?

Local take from Peachtree Corners, Georgia: separate the monthly budget from the arrival budget. The monthly budget has housing, cars, childcare, utilities, insurance, and activities. The arrival budget has deposits, furniture, movers, repairs, hotel nights, and all the annoying things nobody posts on Instagram. In Atlanta, neighborhood fit and intown versus suburb trade-offs are the two categories I would not underestimate. A move can still be financially smart and still feel expensive during the first six months.
