Posting from Albuquerque, New Mexico. We may be heading to Tustin, California, mostly because of pet and utility setup. On paper it makes sense, but I don’t want to make a clean spreadsheet decision and then create a messy family life. Specific question: First 90 days in Irvine: school, doctor, and rental setup?. We may rent first, but school timing and lease timing are making the decision stressful. We are trying to picture normal life after arrival: doctors, weather, utilities, errands, pets, and routines. What did you only understand after living there for a few months?

The boring details are the ones that decide whether the move works. the first few months are logistics, not lifestyle. Doctors, utilities, school records, transportation, weather, pets, and routines take more energy than expected. Mello-roos and Asian grocery access can become weekly annoyances if you choose poorly. Everything gets better once the family has a normal grocery store, doctor, school route, weekend habit, and a few familiar faces. Do not judge the whole move by the first month. The first month is mostly cardboard boxes and bad sleep.

Honestly, I would slow down and test the weekday version first. the first few months are logistics, not lifestyle. Doctors, utilities, school records, transportation, weather, pets, and routines take more energy than expected. Village differences and school pressure can become weekly annoyances if you choose poorly. Everything gets better once the family has a normal grocery store, doctor, school route, weekend habit, and a few familiar faces. Do not judge the whole move by the first month. The first month is mostly cardboard boxes and bad sleep.
