We’re seriously looking at Bellevue, Washington from St. Louis, Missouri. The move started because of selling and buying at the same time, but now my spouse and I are stuck on the practical details. Topic: Bigger house in Bothell or smaller place closer to Bellevue?. My spouse is more practical about the move than I am, and I keep worrying about the emotional side. We are trying to avoid choosing a house that looks great online but creates a bad routine. I would love real answers from people who live nearby, not just the polished version from listing photos or relocation videos.

This sounds small until it becomes part of every week. the house can be right and the location can still be wrong. People focus on square footage, kitchens, and price, but the first-year stress usually comes from dark winters, no AC in older homes, setup costs, and commute or school logistics. Renting first is annoying, but it buys local knowledge. If buying immediately, confirm insurance, taxes, inspections, school boundaries, pet rules, and commute before you emotionally move into the house.

Blunt answer: the house can be right and the location can still be wrong. People focus on square footage, kitchens, and price, but the first-year stress usually comes from housing prices, Eastside commute, setup costs, and commute or school logistics. Renting first is annoying, but it buys local knowledge. If buying immediately, confirm insurance, taxes, inspections, school boundaries, pet rules, and commute before you emotionally move into the house.
