Has anyone moved from Minneapolis, Minnesota to Matthews, North Carolina and felt surprised by the day-to-day reality? Remote work lifestyle change is our main reason, but I’m trying to separate the nice relocation idea from the actual weekday routine. I’m especially trying to understand this: Belmont or Matthews for a calmer lifestyle?. We are also thinking about visiting grandparents, healthcare, and whether the area will still fit us in five years. People keep mentioning middle-school fit, Lake Norman commute, and two-car routines. Which of those actually mattered most?

Honestly, I would slow down and test the weekday version first. choose the area that fits your ordinary week, not the one that sounds best in a relocation group. Around Matthews, North Carolina, suburban growth and Lake Norman commute can matter more than people expect. Drive the route at the real commute time, then visit the grocery store, park, school area, and coffee shop you think you will actually use. The best neighborhood is usually the one that makes Tuesday easier, not Saturday prettier.
