We are relocating from Chicago, Illinois to Sydney, New South Wales and trying to understand whether what documents should families prepare before moving to sydney? is something families really deal with after arrival. Online advice is either too positive or too vague. We have children, work schedules, budget limits, and no local support yet, so small mistakes could change daily life quickly. For people who already made this move, what did you learn after the first few months?

Thank you for saying this. People make relocation sound like a fresh start, but it can feel like losing competence.

Small routines really do matter. Our local bakery basically became our emotional support system.

Prepare documents earlier than feels necessary. Passports, visas, birth certificates, marriage certificate, school records, immunization records, employment letters, rental documents, medical summaries, and digital copies. The first month is easier when documents are not scattered across email and luggage. Also ask your employer for very specific relocation support. “We help you settle in” can mean almost nothing unless someone walks you through banking, school, housing, and local ID steps.

I would add: check the school run during rain. That changed our opinion fast.
