We are relocating from Seattle, Washington to Sydney, New South Wales and trying to understand whether driver license conversion and learning to drive on the left with kids is something families really deal with after arrival. Online advice is either too positive or too vague. We have children, work schedules, budget limits, and no local support yet, so small mistakes could change daily life quickly. For people who already made this move, what did you learn after the first few months?

Same here. The emotional part was way bigger than the checklist.

Agree with this, especially about not choosing by weekend visits.

The paperwork was stressful, but the dependence was harder. When one spouse understands the system better, the other can feel like a child. Divide tasks intentionally so one person does not become the family help desk.

This is exactly the kind of detail I wish people told us before we moved.

Do not wait for an emergency to figure out healthcare, school contacts, phone setup, and local payment systems. Set up boring essentials first.

Different suburb for us, but the same pattern. The practical choice ended up being the kind one.
