Our 16-year-old is obsessed with living near Bondi because of social media and the beach. We are looking at school zones and commute, so we are considering the North Shore or Inner West instead. She already says we are ruining the only fun part of moving. Has anyone moved to Sydney with a teenager who had a completely different idea of the city?

For immigrant families, community access matters. It is not just restaurants and groceries. It is someone who understands your lunchbox, your grandparents, your language stress, and your child being between cultures. We underestimated how much that mattered during the first year.

Thank you for saying this. People make relocation sound like a fresh start, but it can feel like losing competence.
