We are a Chinese Canadian family considering Sydney. Friends keep talking about selective schools, tutoring, coaching colleges, math, music, and exam preparation. I want strong education, but I do not want my daughter to feel like childhood is only testing. Is Sydney school culture very intense for Chinese families, or does it depend on suburb and parent group?

Do not try to solve the whole city before arriving. Choose a landing area that reduces stress, then learn from real weekdays. The emotional part surprised me more than school paperwork. My child was not comparing suburbs or rankings. They wanted one friend, one familiar snack, and one place that felt normal after school. Adults overthink the map. Kids often need repetition.
