We are relocating from Los Angeles, California to Sydney, New South Wales and trying to understand whether our kids became more independent, but i became more anxious is something families really deal with after arrival. Online advice is either too positive or too vague. We have children, work schedules, budget limits, and no local support yet, so small mistakes could change daily life quickly. For people who already made this move, what did you learn after the first few months?

The first month is not real life. It is setup mode. You are learning transport, groceries, school messages, doctors, bills, weather, and social rules all at once. Do not judge the relocation while your brain is still translating every tiny routine. Small routines made the city feel personal: same bakery, same park, same school parent, same walking route. Home arrived slowly.

Our kids adjusted faster than we did. That was comforting and painful. They found school friends while we were still missing our old adult life. Give yourself permission to grieve without calling the move a mistake.
