We are relocating from Osaka, Japan to Sydney, New South Wales and trying to understand whether japanese mother in sydney: friendly people, but hard to make deep friends is something families really deal with after arrival. Online advice is either too positive or too vague. We have children, work schedules, budget limits, and no local support yet, so small mistakes could change daily life quickly. For people who already made this move, what did you learn after the first few months?

Loneliness can happen even in a friendly city. People may be kind but busy. We made friends through repeated places, not one-off events: school volunteering, sports, religious community, language class, dog walks, and the same cafe every week.

Same here. The emotional part was way bigger than the checklist.
