Sintra looks magical, but is it too inconvenient for school and work?

      We visited Sintra and fell in love with the trees, older houses, and cooler climate. But everyone warns us that living there is different from visiting. We have two children and need school access, doctor access, and occasional Lisbon work meetings. Is Sintra realistic for families?

      Sintra is beautiful, but do not confuse weekend magic with weekday logistics. Moisture, traffic, school commute, repairs, and distance from Lisbon services all matter. We love it because we wanted nature and accepted the inconvenience. If your life is centered around Lisbon schools, think hard.
