Avenida de America area for commuting parents — practical or ugly?

      We are considering the Avenida de America area because it seems practical for transit and commuting. It is not the prettiest neighborhood we saw, but the connections are good, and the apartments seem more reasonable than Salamanca or Retiro. We have one child and need to be realistic. Would you choose practical over charming in Madrid?

      We chose practical and were glad. Madrid charm is wonderful on weekends, but weekday life is logistics. Transit, school, grocery, doctors, and commute decide your stress level. The area is not the most romantic, but our routine works. That counts for a lot.

      Practical is underrated. But make sure you still have one place nearby that you actually enjoy going.
