      We are moving to Madrid with one cat and two children. Pet relocation paperwork is already stressful, but I am also worried landlords will reject us. Many listings do not say clearly whether pets are allowed. How hard is it to rent with pets in Madrid?

      It is possible, but ask early. Do not wait until the landlord likes you and then mention the cat. Some furnished flats are more hesitant because of furniture damage. We created a small pet profile with vaccination info and offered extra cleaning. It felt ridiculous, but it helped.

      Our cat adjusted faster than our children. The paperwork was worse than the animal.
