We arrived in Madrid three weeks ago, and I feel like I am learning 100 tiny systems. Recycling, school WhatsApp groups, grocery schedules, pharmacy rules, metro cards, bank transfers, apartment repairs, doctor appointments, late dinners, and children melting down after school. When does this stop feeling so hard?

The first month is not real life. It is setup mode. Every tiny task takes more energy because your automatic habits are gone. You are not failing. You are rebuilding a whole operating system while parenting. Pick the basics first: school, food, sleep, transport, doctor, one friend. Everything else can be messy for a while.

I cried because I could not understand a washing machine setting. Three months later I laughed about it. Barely.

One familiar routine saved us. Same bakery every Saturday. It sounds small, but it gave the kids an anchor.
