We are moving to Madrid with two young children and healthcare is one of my biggest concerns. I know Spain has good healthcare, but I worry about explaining symptoms, vaccines, prescriptions, dental emergencies, allergies, and after-hours care in Spanish. How do international families build a medical routine?

Find your doctor list before someone is sick. Pediatrician, dentist, pharmacy, urgent care, hospital, and insurance contact. Bring vaccination records, allergy notes, prescriptions, and translated summaries if needed. Madrid healthcare can be very good, but when your child has a fever, you do not want to be searching WhatsApp groups at midnight.

Our pharmacist became part of our support system. I did not expect that.

Even if you plan to use public healthcare, private backup at first can reduce stress.
