In Tokyo, school communication, transit, appointments, and daily life feel organized. You will compare everything at first. I did. Madrid felt warmer and more relaxed, but also less precise. Appointments changed, repairs took longer, and dinner schedules were later than our children could handle at first. The good part is that people were kind to our kids, and school parents were more socially open than I expected. The hard part was accepting that efficiency is not the only way a city can work.

We chose a quieter residential area because central Madrid was too much after Tokyo. That helped our family more than trying to live in the most exciting neighborhood.
