We moved from Singapore to Madrid and expected an easy international transition. Madrid is international in some ways, but daily systems feel more Spanish than we expected. Yes. Singapore spoiled us for English-language convenience. Madrid is international, but it is still deeply Spanish in daily life. That is part of the value, but it also means you cannot expect every system to bend around English. Once we accepted that, we stopped being frustrated every day. We learned more Spanish and chose fewer battles.
