My wife and I are moving with our son and comparing Lisbon city with Cascais. We want our family to feel normal at school and in the neighborhood, not like a special case. Amsterdam has been easy socially, and we are nervous about losing that ease. How welcoming did Lisbon feel for queer families?

Lisbon city felt more natural for us socially. We saw different family structures, international families, artists, locals, Brazilians, Europeans, and people not fitting one mold. Cascais was beautiful, but some circles felt more traditional and family-status focused. That is not everyone, just our experience.
