      We are moving to Lisbon and I keep seeing people talk about NIF, bank account, lease, phone number, residency appointment, health insurance, school enrollment, and address proof. It feels like every step depends on another step. What was the most confusing part after arrival?

      The circular logic was the hard part. You need an address for some things, banking for some things, documents for housing, phone for verification, and local help to understand what each office actually wants. Get professional relocation help if your employer offers it. If not, find a reliable local advisor. The first month is not a measure of your intelligence.
