Summer heat, old buildings, and no AC — are we being dramatic?

      We are looking at Lisbon apartments and noticed not all have strong AC or insulation. Coming from Boston, we can handle seasons, but I’m worried about summer heat, winter dampness, old windows, and kids sleeping badly. How much should we prioritize AC and insulation?

      Prioritize comfort more than you think. Lisbon weather sounds mild until you are in an old apartment with poor insulation, damp winter walls, or summer heat trapped inside. Ask about heating, cooling, windows, humidity, sun exposure, and ventilation. A pretty apartment that makes everyone sleep badly is not pretty for long.

      We bought dehumidifiers before we bought decor. Very unromantic. Very necessary.
