Our child has anxiety, and moves are hard for him. We are considering Lisbon but want to understand whether English-speaking therapists, school counselors, or support services are available. I know we can search online, but I want real parent experience. Has anyone supported an anxious child through the move?

Line up support before arrival. Our child looked fine at first because everything was novel. Then the anxiety hit after school started and the excitement wore off. We found an English-speaking therapist, talked to the school counselor, and made routines predictable. Do not wait for a crisis.

International schools vary a lot in support. Ask direct questions before enrollment.

The sentence that helped our daughter was: brave and homesick can exist together.
