      We are a Black American family with two children and are considering Lisbon for a two-year move. We hear Portugal is welcoming, but I do not want to rely on vague expat videos. I want to know what daily life feels like: schools, hair care, community, subtle racism, being stared at, and whether our kids will see other Black families. Has anyone moved as a Black family to Lisbon?

      Do not only look at central expat areas. Some of the cultural comfort is outside the neighborhoods Americans first search.
