The boxes are unpacked and the address change is done, yet it still feels like we’re camping in Dallas rather than living here. I moved from Atlanta with remote work, so nothing forces me out of the house.

I’ve noticed that without a commute or an office, my week has very little shape. I’m keen to build a rhythm, whether that’s a regular coffee spot, a gym, a running route or a volunteer commitment, but I don’t know where people in Deep Ellum, Lake Highlands or Oak Cliff actually spend their time.

The heat also seems to shrink the day in a way I didn’t expect, so I’m curious how people plan errands, exercise and social plans around it.

For those who remember the early months, what made this place start to feel like home, and how long did it take?
