We are considering a move to Bangkok, Thailand and trying to understand what daily life would actually feel like for our family. The specific concern is budget shock from tuition, bus, activities, deposits. Online guides make it sound manageable, but I want to hear from people who have lived through the messy first year. We have kids, school routines, work pressure, and family expectations involved, so this is not just a lifestyle experiment. What should we prepare for before making the move?

I would be careful about choosing only for the children and forgetting the adults. Kids often find school friends and routines faster than parents. The trailing spouse or remote-working parent may be the one who feels invisible. That can create resentment even when the move is technically successful. Before signing housing, ask: where will each adult go during a lonely Tuesday afternoon? That question sounds small, but it matters.
