We are considering a move to Bangkok, Thailand and trying to understand what daily life would actually feel like for our family. The specific concern is family from cooler climate shocked by heat and indoor life. Online guides make it sound manageable, but I want to hear from people who have lived through the messy first year. We have kids, school routines, work pressure, and family expectations involved, so this is not just a lifestyle experiment. What should we prepare for before making the move?

Thank you for saying this. I thought I was being dramatic.

I’ll give the more practical answer: test the commute before deciding. Do the school route, work route, grocery route, doctor route, and weekend route. Then imagine rain, heat, tired kids, a sick day, and one parent traveling for work. A beautiful apartment or neighborhood can become frustrating if every routine requires negotiation.

Same here. The map looked easy, but real life had a different opinion.
