We are priced out of the Lisbon neighborhoods we originally wanted and started looking across the river in Almada. The space looks better for the money, and ferry access seems interesting. But I worry we’ll feel disconnected from schools, friends, and Lisbon life. Has anyone moved across the river with kids?

Almada gave us breathing room. We got more space and less financial stress. But you need to understand your commute and school location. If your children’s school and your social life are in Lisbon, crossing the river can become your hidden cost.
